Production Manager

Opportunity Overview
Drive production efficiencies as you take a hands-on leadership approach to ensuring that shop floor personnel continue to deliver quality work on time at a national juice producer that's poised for growth.
Your mission is to take ownership of our day-to-day production function while using Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement principles to ensure production and quality standards are incorporated into project plans, schedules and budgets. You'll also ensure compliance with all GMP & FDA regulatory requirements as you drive operational excellence. The challenge? We operate in a busy 24/7 service environment and you'll showcase flexibility to work the 2nd and 3rd shifts as well as weekends. We'll also look to you to model a "can do" attitude as you galvanize the team to meet or exceed the cost per unit production targets.

If you have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- 5-7 years of related production experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of high-speed automated equipment.
- Knowledge of THM, 5S and Lean/Six Sigma quality systems.
- Strong leadership and team building skills.
- P&L expertise and track record of successfully managing budgets.
- Self-initiative for diving into issues, assuming ownership, and following though to conclusion
- Impeccable communication skills to interface with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to integrate customer needs and functional unit objectives to achieve business unit objectives.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Computer proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment.
- Beverage industry background and/or high-speed bottling/packaging experience is highly desirable.
- Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus.

More About Your Role
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you'll manage the floor and provide leadership to four plant personnel including three Production Supervisors and one Lead Supervisor
As you can imagine, this is a hit the ground running position and you will focus on achieving the following objectives by the end of the first year:
- Improve production efficiencies by 5%.
- Reduce production costs by 3%.
At a high level, you'll spend about 50% of your time manging day-to-day production issues, including staffing & budgeting; another 30% driving process improvements and working on Lean projects; and the remaining 20% on capital and long-term projects. Your specific responsibilities are to:
- Plan, develop and implement departmental expectations.
- Train and guide personnel in the proper methods and techniques to produce quality, cost-effective products.
- Manage the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of all shop floor personnel, including interviewing and hiring employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and documenting all safety/accident incidents.
- Review production schedule to ensure complete coverage; review number of changeovers and time allotted for changeovers.
- Review previous day's production and downtime from supervisor recaps to spot trends and conduct cause and effect analysis to reduce production downtime.
- Review labor sheets sent out by payroll for accuracy and identify problem areas such as unnecessary overtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups including Production, Human Resource, Quality, Supply Chain, Warehousing, and Finance to meet production targets.
- Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve machines and plant equipment to maximize efficiency.
- Support the execution of capital projects; suggest changes in working conditions, and recommend/implement process improvements.
- Manage departmental budget.
